 1. Undergraduate Admissions

Welcome to KAIST Admissions Office of Undergraduate Program for International Students

Who is eligible to apply for Undergraduate Program as International Students?
International candidates must meet all of the following requirements:
1) Spring Semester, 2017
He or she has graduated or will graduate from his or her secondary education by February 28th, 2017.
    Fall Semester, 2017
He or she has graduated or will graduate from his or her secondary education by August 31st, 2017.
2) He or she is not a citizen of Korea.
* Korean citizens who hold dual citizenship are not eligible to apply as foreign students.
※ Note: International applicant whose parents were born in Korea MUST read the instructions below.
International candidates of Korean origin MUST additionally satisfy one of the following two requirements:
  1. Neither of the candidate’s parents is a Korean citizen or;
  2. The candidate must have received his/her entire elementary, junior high, and high school education outside of Korea at a comparable and equivalent level of those provided in Korea. But in this case, international schools located in Korea are not acknowledged as foreign schools.
    Candidates of Korean origin who completed their entire education(elementary, junior high, and high school) outside of Korea should submit the Certificate of the Facts Concerning the Entry & Exit issued by the Korean Immigration Office.
    The certificate should have recently been issued.
※ International students of Korean origin who do not meet one of the eligibilities above CANNOT apply for International Admissions. Instead, they must apply for Korean Admissions 

2. Deadlines & Fees


Please download and read the guideline carefully. As a candidate, it is your responsibility to know the application requirements, to submit the necessary materials by the deadline, and to monitor the status of application on the website.

2.1. Admission Timeline

Applicants can choose to apply either SPRING semester or Fall semester.

SPRING semester Deadline: Mon, September 5th, 2016, 10:00 A.M. ~  Fri, November 4th, 2016, 5:00 P.M.
FALL semester Deadline: Thur, December 1st, 2016, 10:00 A.M. ~ Fri, January 20th, 2017, 5:00 P.M.

* Materials must be received by the dates listed above.
** Interview is NOT required for all accepted candidates. Candidates will be contacted if interview is necessary.
∴ After you pay the application fee, you are not allowed to change your semester (i.e: from SPRING semester to FALL semester)

2.2. Application Fee

The application fee is USD 80 or KRW 80,000. Payment can be made by credit card or bank transfer after writing application form online. Additional charges (i.e. bank charges) should be covered by the candidates. Please note that application fee is non-refundable and you cannot modify application form once you pay the application fee.

3.2. Application Process

Fill out your online application form completely according to the instructions and save the file.

Please make sure that the information on your application is correct.
You cannot edit your application after you pay the application fee.

 4. Scholarships


4.1. KAIST International Student Scholarship

Eligibility
  • Applicants of International Student Admission
Subsidies
  • Full tuition fee: tuition exemption for 8 semesters
  • Living expenses: 200,000 ~ 350,000 KRW per month
  • National Health insurance
Requirement
  • Students must maintain GPA over 2.7 out of 4.3 at KAIST
Application Period
  • Same as Admission Application
Selection Procedure
  • Same as Admission Selection

4.2. Korean Government Scholarship (KGSP)

Subsidies
  • Full tuition fee: tuition exemption for 8 semesters
  • Living expenses: 800,000 KRW per month
  • Airfare: one economy round trip
  • Korean language training fee: one year
    * Korean language training is mandatory and when the student does not achieve TOPIK grade 3 within a year, she/he is not eligible to enter the degree program.
  • Others: medical insurance, settlement and returning expenses
