The Scottish Government in collaboration with British Council is providing PhD research travel grants for women to conduct their research or dissertation in a Scottish University and is delighted to be supporting these grants which will help women in Pakistan achieve their potential and ambitions, aiding them to build a secure future for themselves and their families.
British Council Pakistan will administer these grants and shortlist the applicants that are to be awarded the grants.
The grants aim to facilitate female PhD students enrolled in Pakistani Universities carry out research in Scotland. The applicant will be responsible for contacting and confirming a placement to carry out research in any University in Scotland.
THE AWARD:
Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme will facilitate award-holders with the following incentives:
- Travel Expenses: Return ticket to Scotland, visa fee and insurance
- Living costs for a period of maximum three months
ELIGIBILITY:
The following criteria must be met to be considered eligible for the scholarship:
- Only female applicants can apply
- Applicant must be a Pakistani national, currently residing in Pakistan
- Applicant must be currently enrolled in a PhD programme in a Higher Education Commission recognised Pakistani University
- Applicant must have acceptance for their research proposal from a University in Scotland.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:
- Copy of NIC of applicant
- Copy of Passport of applicant
- Supporting letter from home institution in Pakistan stating PhD title, commencement date of PhD, intended date of travel to Scotland and intended duration of stay in Scotland
- Supporting letter from host institution in Scotland stating PhD title, purpose of visit, intended date of travel to Scotland and intended duration of stay in Scotland
- Degree/ Transcript of previously completed degrees
NB: Please do not send additional documents. Applications with incomplete information and documentation may not be considered
The last date to submit the application is 31 December 2015.
