Lumen Research is an ambitious London-based ad tech start up, specialising in the application of eye-tracking technology to market research. Founded in 2013 Lumen has grown fast in its first three years and is seeking to expand its team further. Using state of the art eye-tracking sensors we examine how successfully our clients’ communications engage consumers’ attention and help them find ways to communicate more effectively. We provide behavioural research on the effectiveness of visual communications (including online/paper advertising, direct marketing, in-store, bills, etc.) for some of the UK’s best-known brands. Our business is built on a consulting base that has already reformed how brands measure, plan and execute marketing communications. It is transforming to a real-time ad tech business by creating scalable software products for online advertising that will revolutionise how demand side platform bids in ad exchanges for ad spaces.
University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and Lumen Research are offering an exciting opportunity to a post graduate in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology or with a relevant degree involving a significant amount of software development to support Lumen Research. The post is a 30-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project between the company and UWS, and has the potential for permanent employment.
The successful candidate will be a trusted member of the research and development team and will be expected, with support from a highly cooperative community of academic experts, to lead change within the company through enhancement in the international marketing potential, effective service delivery and up-selling capability of the organisation via innovative, technology-driven, service-oriented collaboration with key business partners. Additional academic support will be provided by a close community of industry-focused inter-disciplinary research groups and the successful applicant should exhibit entrepreneurial flair, and proactively communicate with researchers throughout the University.
Interested candidates should be committed to achieving the desired change in the company and have at least a post graduate degree or with a relevant degree involving a significant amount of software development. The successful applicant will have a sound knowledge of programming language C/C++/Python. Experience of test-driven development, agile software development, or technical writing is desirable. Familiarity with the following technologies would also be a significant advantage: Neural network, deep learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Big Data.
